Meet the Legacy Leaders

Ellen Dunnigan

Legacy Leaders, Mentor
President and CEO
Accent on Business

Ellen Dunnigan is known as the competent and confident leader’s secret weapon and trusted confidant. Nearly twenty years ago, she founded Accent On Business, an executive presence, and professional communication advisory firm based in Carmel, Indiana, with clients locally, nationally, and internationally.

Ellen has had her own career experiences as a mentee and a mentor, influencing sponsors, being in tumultuous situations on boards and in war rooms, managing messaging for investor relations calls, delivering high-level executive summaries, and shaping complexities…all of which prepared her well to be the advisor to others. Her clients range from leaders in Fortune 50 companies to successful microbusinesses, from high-potential entrepreneurs to policymakers and scientists. She has served many industries, including professional services, healthcare, technology, engineering, municipalities, professional sports, e-commerce, and others. What they all have in common is a strong desire to improve their image and influence, and that of their companies; to shine when the stakes are high.

Ellen’s executive coaching is focused on your professional presence and your professional communication. She is known for her practical “how-to” style and her ability to diagnose what is needed to be experienced as each person intends to be experienced by others.

Prior to devoting full time to her passion to help others succeed with their communication and presence, Ellen Dunnigan held significant positions in the strategic development of healthcare models of care for more than fifteen years. Ellen is master-trained in several leadership assessment tools, including DiSC, Emotional Intelligence, Motivation by Appreciation, Hoaglin, Enneagram, and others. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Speech Pathology, and post-graduate certificates in leadership, business, and organizational development. Ellen has been the speaking coach for the “Richard G. Lugar Excellence in Public Service” Series for several years and Purdue’s “Entrepreneurship Academy”, among other programs. She is a recent past Board Director with the Indianapolis chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), a member of several local and national organizations, and has served on several boards.

Ellen and her husband, Patrick, are native Buckeyes who, of course, now call Indiana “home”.
