Get To Know

We asked our new Community Relations Manager, Melissa Perry, a few questions so you can get to know our dynamic, passionate new team member! Read all about her below.

  1. What are you most excited about in joining the Pass the Torch team?
I am super excited to be part of a team that pays it forward to women of all walks of life. How could I not be rejuvenated every morning? I wake up every morning knowing that what I accomplish for the day will positively impact women…that puts a smile on my heart.
  2. What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Three words that best describe me from my perspective are determined, passionate and kind. I am so very passionate and determined to be the best person I can be.
  3. What does “passing the torch for women” mean to you?
Passing the Torch for Women is a way to “pay it forward”. I have been so blessed to have the opportunity to get to this point in my life, professionally and personally. As I begin my new role at Pass the Torch for Women, I believe that my contribution in guidance and my experiences will be of value to women that are seeking to better themselves. I am excited to be Passing a Torch of empowerment to all that I encounter.  What a tremendous way to “pay it forward”.
  4. What advice would you give your younger self, if given the opportunity?
If I could go back in time and give myself advice, I think I would tell myself to be sure to wake up every morning and end each day with acknowledgement of what I am grateful for. Gratitude is the foundation of success from what I have discovered over the years. If you can find things to be grateful for, all else (personally and professionally) seems to naturally find its way.
  5. What is an accomplishment you are most proud of?
When I reflect over the past fifteen years, I would say that I am most proud of taking the leap to further my education. It was an intimidating feat to consider after being out of high school for 25 years, then deciding to go to college. Being brave and believing in myself was a huge hurdle, in the end, that is what has gotten me through, academically, professionally and personally to date!
As the saying goes, “She believed she could, so she did” …and I did!….and so can you
