“Pass the Torch for Women Foundation Announces First-Of-Its-Kind “Pass the Mic” Event
Featuring Culinary Arts and Community”

October 20, 2022 – Indianapolis, IN – Pass the Torch for Women Foundation is doing something different. The inaugural “Pass the Mic” is not just another event in the city, it is an experience that will bring together the community to hear from incredible female entrepreneurs. This year’s theme is culinary arts and entertainment.

The evening will spotlight a culinary tour with bites from the city’s favorite women-owned restaurants including Just Pop-In, The Missing Brick, Innova Wings, Sweeties, and more! Attendees will gain perspective and be inspired after listening to keynote speaker, author, and Masterchef finalist, Tanorria Askew. A Meet and Greet will kick off the event to include signed copies of Tanorria’s cookbook, Staples + 5: 100 Simple Recipes to Make the Most of Your Pantry, along with a glass of champagne to toast an evening of empowering women.

Tanorria will share her story of how she spent 15 years in corporate America before leaving to follow her culinary dreams. Her story of evolving from a corporate trainer ignoring her calling to becoming the sassy MasterChef Season 7 fan-favorite will show audiences how to remove obstacles holding them back and empower them to make their aspirations a reality.

The rest of the evening dancing with DJ Gabby Love who will be “passing the mic” throughout the night to showcase the stories of the movers and shakers in the room. A special performance by a powerhouse local girl group will leave attendees inspired by the future community builders of Indianapolis. Throughout the event, guests will have the opportunity to marvel at the creation of international artist Ashley Nora’s live painting. Ashley will showcase how she shatters the proverbial glass ceiling with a custom painting that will be auctioned at the end of the night for a lucky audience member to own.

Pass the Torch for Women Foundation Executive Director, Samantha Burke shares, “The Foundation is thrilled to bring the Indianapolis community together for this first-of-its-kind event to highlight the work of the incredible women in our own backyard. We have chosen to create an event where women are not only celebrated for the work that they do but also recognized for where they came from and how they inspire us all into the future.”

The event will showcase the Foundation’s mission, to connect, mentor, and empower women, while they ”pass the mic” as a community and share their stories with one another.

Registration site is now live and general admission and Meet and Greet  tickets are available.
