Earlier this week, the Foundation hosted a StrengthsFinder and Personal Board of Directors workshop, an interactive opportunity to learn about the significance of the StrengthsFinder assessment, and how to build your own personal board of directors.
The StrengthsFinder assessment identifies your five main strengths and helps you understand how to harness them to become a better leader, understand yourself better, and be more confident in your career.
Attendees also learned about the importance of having a personal board of directors. Your personal board would act as a network of mentors who can provide you with feedback on decisions, opportunities, and challenges you face throughout your career.
The workshop included Project Grow students and alumni, Developing Professionals, 500 Circle Members, and community members. After an opportunity for networking, Associate Director of Student Life at Ivy Tech, Amanda Babic, and the Foundation’s own Vice President of Programming and Development, Samantha Burke, took the stage to speak from their own experiences and lead the program.
In order to progress through your career, it is essential to have a firm grasp on your strengths and weaknesses, and how to use them to your advantage. It is also essential to not face all of your challenges alone, but to turn to your network of mentors when you are unsure.
Attendees left Thursday’s workshop with a better understanding of why it’s crucial to surround yourself with the right people to achieve career success, and how you can use your strengths to your advantage along the way.
