On Thursday, September 12th, we united to celebrate the on-boarding of 350 new female college students into the 2019-2020 cohort of our Project Grow Program! Thank you to Ivy Tech Community College for hosting this event, as well as those who came to celebrate with us!
This celebration highlighted the journey these students were about to embark on by helping to provide a celebratory environment with community members and Project Grow alumna cheering alongside them. The panel discussion, which focused on “Advice to my Younger Self”, was interactive for students, who took advantage of this time to ask questions back to the panelists for deeper understanding. Our panelists included Amanda Bremmer Babic of Ivy Tech Community College, Ariel Crawley of IvyWorks, and Mary Beth Oakes of Business Furniture/Choreo.
Thank you for your insight, and for providing vibrant dialogue to inspire our incoming students. We hope that in providing honest, relatable, and raw content for the new Project Grow mentees, they will continue to utilize these tools in their program and in their careers. They might even be inspired to become panelists themselves one day and help to give back to future mentees in the ways they received on Thursday evening.
About Project Grow: This program within Pass the Torch for Women Foundation (PTTFW) provides students with professional development and leadership building skills, as well as produces some of the highest qualified mentors in the nation for one-on-one mentoring opportunities. The program supplies module workshops for the mentees to complete, propelling them toward even brighter opportunities in their career post-graduation, all while creating an environment full of encouragement and social support.
