On Saturday, February 23, Marian University hosted the Transformational Leadership Conference (TLC) for over 75 participants, including student-athletes, student government representatives, orientation leaders, and 21st Century Scholars.
The 2019 conference provided an experiential and thought-provoking conference for Marian University students from all majors and academic standing allowing students to explore their personal leadership style, while developing leadership skills, and enhancing their understanding of leadership concepts and theories.
Pass the Torch for Women Foundation’s Samantha Burke, Vice President of Programming and Development, spoke on the topic of “Overcoming the Undertow: Navigating Obstacles Through Self-Discovery and Mentorship”. Key elements from the session included:
- Defining Your Identity
- Aligning Your Values and Passions
- Harvesting Grit and Confidence
- Building Meaningful Mentoring Relationships
“This was the the second year the Foundation’s proposal to speak was accepted and we could not be more thrilled with the partnership,” Burke stated. “The students are eager to learn and their enthusiasm for personal and professional development is contagious. We look forward to continued collaboration at Marian University and value the culture of propelling students forward into their career.”
