What are Monthly Mentoring Chats?
Monthly Mentoring Chats are a great way for the members and community of the Pass the Torch for Women Foundation to be introduced to influential women and hear them speak about their journeys through their careers as well as how mentoring has created an impact in their lives. The speakers we have are very unique and bring such a variety of lessons and stories to share with our members. These chats take place monthly and last about an hour. Members can call/log-in via webinar and are able to hear the interview between the featured speaker and our Executive Director.
This month’s featured speaker is Shari Wagner! Shari Wagner, Indiana’s fifth Poet Laureate, is the author of two books of poetry: The Harmonist at Nightfall: Poems of Indiana and Evening Chore. She is also co-writer with her father of Making the Rounds: Memoirs of a Small-Town Doctorand A Hundred Camels: A Mission Doctor’s Sojourn and Murder Trial in Somalia. She is editor of Returning: Stories from the Indianapolis Senior Center and Finding the Words: Stories and Poems of Women Veterans. Her poems have appeared in North American Review, The Writer’s Almanac, Shenandoah, The Christian Century, Indiana Review, and American Life in Poetry. She was co-winner of Shenandoah’s The Carter Prize for the Essay (2009) and the recipient of two Arts Council of Indianapolis Creative Renewal Fellowships, as well as grants from the Indiana Arts Commission.
