Press Release: Pass The Torch For Women Welcomes New Executive Director!

Julie

The Pass The Torch For Women Foundation (PTTFW) is pleased to announce that Julie Petr will now serve as Executive Director for the Indianapolis-based organization. Formerly PTTFW’s Assistant Executive Director/Vice President Of Development, Ms. Petr is taking over the helm from the foundation’s founder Alison Martin-Books.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve Pass The Torch For Women in this expanded capacity,” stated Ms. Petr. “Under Alison Martin-Books’s leadership, the foundation has grown from a local networking group for women to a national women’s mentoring and leadership development organization. Along with our Board, sponsors, volunteers and supporters, I look forward to continuing our impact on equality in the workplace.

Ms. Martin-Books will be assuming the role of CEO of Diverse Talent Strategies, whose primary line of business is in helping companies and member organizations set up mentoring programs that are scalable and easy to administer.

With the generous support of USA Funds, Pass The Torch for Women launched Project Grow in September 2015, a program focused on developing mentoring relationships and leadership skills for college women. Ivy Tech Community College and Marian University participated in the program pilot, which graduated nearly 100 women in May 2016. A study of the impact of Project Grow on participants persisting to graduation, entering the workforce and growing their careers will be released in summer 2016.

Pass the Torch for Women also offers programming for emerging women leaders and female executives through mentoring relationships, leadership development training, and local events.
