Last Night Mentoring Women’s Network’s November Open House featured Professional Story Teller, Speech Coach, and Public Speaking Professor Sally Perkins!
Sally told her story on the “Sibling Staircase”, a humorous story about her life as the youngest of three sisters to talk about how we experience mentorship through our family relationships, specifically our siblings. Depending on where we fall on what she calls the “sibling staircase,” we are mentors and are mentored in powerful ways by those relationships. It reflected on how we each have something unique to bring to the table and sometimes it takes others to help bring that unique quality out of ourself.
We had a great mix of members and guests who attended the Open House, as well as Ivy Tech and Marian University students who are involved in the Project Grow program.
Pat Wachtel, CEO and President of Girls Inc. of Greater Indianapolis was also present at the Open House last night.
As many of your know, at Mentoring Women’s Network we value the notion of giving and what better time to do so than the holidays! We collected donations for their group last night that will help with their mission of inspiring young girls to be strong, smart, and bold. They were asking for donations along the lines of:
- $10 gift cards to Starbucks or Target for volunteer recognition
- Gift cards in any denomination for program/office supplies (Target, Office Depot, Staples, Sams, WalMart)
- Jump Ropes
- Playground Balls
- Playing Cards
- Board Games
- Hula Hoops
- Gender neutral incentive items (yo-yos, bouncy balls, colorful shoe strings, jewelry making kits with embroidery thread, ribbon for books and hair accessory making)
There is still an opportunity to learn more and to donate! Click HERE for the link!
Thank you to everyone who came out last night to celebrate! We wish you happy upcoming holidays!
