If I Could Give Advice To My Younger Self,
I Would Say…
It seems that the older I get, the more frequently I hear myself saying “I wish someone had told me….” So, you can imagine my joy when asked to contribute a blog on “What Advice I Would Give to My Younger Self.” Here’s the advice I wish I had received (listened to?)
- Read the quote daily from Marianne Williamson’s “Return to Love” where she says: “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate…it is that we are powerful beyond measure. Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?”
- Read the quote from Goethe that says, in part, “…the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves, too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”
- Once a day, ask yourself, “With respect to my dream(s), what is something I could say or do if I was only 10% bolder? Then do that.
When I traded in retirement for “rewirement,” it was with the intention of encouraging everyone to unlock their vision and take their dreams off hold. Someone said that “When you set fire to your passion, people will come from miles around to watch you burn!” I want to be in the front row for your bonfire, saying, “Well done!”
