Vicki Yamasaki is chief risk officer for the companies of OneAmerica. Elected to this position in 2009, she leads the company’s enterprise risk management function (ERM). She currently chairs OneAmerica’s enterprise risk committee and serves on various other committees that oversee and manage the company’s approach to capital management, financial and product risks. Vicki also manages rating agency relations and mergers and acquisitions due diligence for OneAmerica and is integrally involved in the enterprise strategic planning process.
Vicki works collaboratively with the enterprise risk committee to develop ERM strategy and enhance the enterprise risk framework, which includes strategic, financial, and operational risks. Major accomplishments include a 2012 upgrade of OneAmerica’s ERM Score to “adequate with strong risk controls” by Standard & Poor’s (which elevates OneAmerica to the top 17 percent among the industry) being only one of 14 companies in the U.S. to participate in the Own Risk Solvency Assessment pilot conducted by the NAIC in 2012 iii) the architecture and implementation of a comprehensive framework with dashboard reporting for a 3600 view of risk across the enterprise, including strategic, operational, financial and compliance risks..
Vicki formerly served as OneAmerica’s vice president of strategic planning. Prior to joining OneAmerica, Vicki was a partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP in their global risk management Practice working with medium to large clients in the life insurance sector. Her practice areas included ERM, compliance risk management, merger and acquisition due diligence and financial auditing.
Vicki holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston and is a certified public accountant. Vicki is a member of the LOMA ERM Committee, ACLI Global Risk Management Committee, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is the incoming president for Financial Executives International-Indianapolis chapter.
